Workshops

The Hermosa Beach Museum is currently developing new workshops to offer as part of our public programing. The following workshops below are held periodically throughout the year at the Museum (please check our programs tab), but are also available for private groups schools on request. Workshops require a deposit and materials fee. Please complete the Private Tour Form and submit to staff at hermosabeachmuseum@gmail.com.

Family Workshop: Anatomy of a Skateboard

Explore skateboard art and construction over the decades then build your own miniature board in the Hermosa Beach Museum's Anatomy of a Skateboard Family Workshop! In this workshop, participants and their families can see classic boards dating from the steel wheels of the '50s to pro-boards of the '90s, then build and decorate a miniature fingerboard step-by-step alongside an instructor building a full-size board. Suggested Ages 7+.

Family Workshop: Patterning the Past - Decorating Tile in the Proutyline Style

At this workshop, you can be inspired by an exclusive look at beautiful tile samples of the 1920s and 1930s from our collections to create your own masterpiece coaster or refrigerator magnet using a blank tile and art pens. A museum representative will share a brief history T.C. Prouty’s Proutyline tile factory, which served as one of the earliest industries in Hermosa between 1922 and 1937, along with an exhibition of tile samples.
