COVID-19 Safety Guidelines

The Hermosa Beach Museum is still closed, but is working to establish a reopening date for our facility. We look forward to announcing a reopening date soon.


Please stay tuned for more details. The following safety guidelines will be implemented when welcoming the community back to the Hermosa Beach Museum.


We will be taking a careful approach to reopening, with the safety of our staff, guests, and community as our utmost priority.

As part of our commitment to your health and safety during your visit, the museum will be implementing a number of safety procedures including:​

Face Masks Face masks are mandatory and are to be worn at all times while on the premises. Masks should be well fitted and cover the nose and mouth.


Temperature Check Before entering the Museum, all individuals will be asked to have their temperature taken at the door. Please stay home if you are not feeling well.

Compliance Signature When entering the Museum, Museum personnel and guests will sign a check in, ensuring that they will comply with all Museum safety procedures.

Social Distance We have placed floor stickers, signage, and one way directional flow throughout the Museum. Please follow these measures to ensure a safe and enjoyable visit.

Hand Sanitizer Dispensers Multiple hand sanitizer dispensers will be placed throughout the Museum for guest and personnel use.

Limiting the number of guests to promote a physically distanced and safe environment.


Planning Your Visit


The Hermosa Beach Museum will be open BY APPOINTMENT ONLY on Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday during business hours when Los Angeles County regulations permit the safe reopening of indoor museum facilities.

Scheduling We will be open by APPOINTMENT ONLY. To schedule an appointment please do so through the website submission below, or send an email to, or leave a voicemail at (310) 318-9421.


Group Visits We will schedule only one group, with a maximum or 10 people at a time. In addition all individuals in the group must be from the same household.


Contact Information We will require contact information for each group in case contact tracing is required later.


Timed Entry Appointments will allow one hour for each Museum visit. Guests who arrive early will be asked to wait outside until their appointment time.


Restrooms The HBHS does not have a bathroom facility- a public bathroom facility can be made available at the Community Center next door upon request.

Seating There is seating for individuals inside the Museum that is cleaned regularly. 



The safety measures and guidelines listed above are being implemented consistent with current guidance issued by federal, state, and local public health officials.  Although these precautions are being taken, the HBHS cannot prevent any guest from becoming exposed to, contracting, or spreading COVID-19 while visiting the Museum.
