November Closures: Sunday November 15th (private event) and November 25-27 for Thanksgiving
Internship opportunities
The Hermosa Beach Museum is proud to offer two paid student internships for the summer of 2027. Applicants must be at least 18 year of age, and be currently enrolled in a college or university. Hours must be completed on site at the Museum.
How to Apply:
Submit a resume, cover letter with an interest statement, and the attached application to the Museum Director by the submission deadline. Applications will be reviewed by Museum staff. Selected applicants will be invited to participate in an in-person or Zoom interview with the Museum Executive Director. Following the interview process, a final intern will be selected.
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: May 17, 2027 -applications for 2027 will be live for submission February 2, 2027
Collections Internship
Project: Collections & Research
Internship Timeframe: June 1, 2027 - September 24, 2027 during staff hours Tues-Fri from 10AM-5PM
Required Hours: 60
Stipend: $1,000.00 to be paid upon completion of required hours
Responsibilities:

Review existing and record new oral history recordings for the Museum’s collection.

Create detailed finding aids for the Museum’s collections including summaries, keywords, and indexing for improved accessibility.

Entering data into Museum’s online collections software

Researching collections items, or assisting staff and volunteers with research projects for upcoming programs and exhibitions

Digitize photographic materials in collections

Oppertunity to create social media and online exhibit content
Exhibits & Museum Programs
Project: Exhibits & Museum Programs
Internship Timeframe: June 1, 2027 - September 24, 2027 during staff hours Tues-Fri from 10AM-5PM
Required Hours: 60
Stipend: $1,000.00 to be paid upon completion of required hours
Responsibilities:

Assist with research and development of current and upcoming museum exhibitions.

Help develop exhibit themes, labels, signage, educational materials, and other interpretive content.

Assist with exhibit design, layout, graphics, object selection, installation, and deinstallation.

Research and work with photographs, artifacts, documents, and other collection materials.

Create social media content, photography, and graphics to promote exhibitions, events, and stories from the Museum’s collection.

Gain hands-on experience with collections, archives, oral history, public programs, and other museum projects.
