Internship opportunities

The Hermosa Beach Museum is proud to offer two paid student internships for the summer of 2026. Applicants must be at least 18 year of age, and be currently enrolled in a college or university.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: May 15, 2025

Collections Internship

Project: Oral History Documentation and Recording

Internship Timeframe: June 2, 2025 - September 25, 2025 during staff hours Tues-Fri from 10AM-5PM

 

Required Hours: 60

 

Stipend: $1,000.00 to be paid upon completion of required hours

Responsibilities:

  • Listen to and review existing oral history recordings from the Museum’s collection.

  • Create detailed finding aids for the Museum’s oral history collection including summaries, keywords, and indexing for improved accessibility.

  • Conduct background research on interviewees and related historical themes.

    • Utilize research to complete a public presentation of completed work in the form of oral presentation, video media, virtual exhibit, or other format

  • Assist with scheduling and recording new oral history interviews with community members.

  • Learn basic audio/video preservation techniques.​​

Marketing Internship

Project: Promotions/ Social Media

Internship Timeframe: June 2, 2025 - September 25, 2025 during staff hours Tues-Fri from 10AM-5PM

 

Required Hours: 30

 

Stipend: $500.00 to be paid upon completion of required hours

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the Hermosa Beach Museum’s social media presence with current event-related posts and general informational posts on all of the organization’s accounts

  • Effectively use photographs, graphics, and text to promote upcoming Museum events, follow up on past events, and consistently invite the public to visit the museum

  • Create distinctive, representative graphics for the promotion of Museum programs and events​​

The Hermosa Beach Museum is a private 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that is only able to offer these educational opportunities and develop new ones with the generous support of our donors.
