ECHOES FROM THE EDGE:
A Cultural History of Jazz & Punk in Hermosa Beach
The Hermosa Beach Museum is proud to announce our upcoming summer rotating exhibit, Echoes from the Edge: A Cultural History of Jazz and Punk in Hermosa Beach.
Hermosa Beach has long been more than just a sunny coastal town — it has served as a creative refuge for groundbreaking artists and musicians. Echoes from the Edge explores the unique cultural crossroads where two seemingly opposite genres — jazz and punk — found a shared home that embraced innovation and artistic freedom.
From the world-renowned stage of The Lighthouse Café to the raw energy of backyard punk shows, this exhibit traces how Hermosa became a launchpad for both smooth improvisation and gritty defiance. Through rare photographs, archival materials, soundscapes, and storytelling, Echoes from the Edge celebrates the artists, venues, and moments that helped shape a national music legacy from right here at the edge of the Pacific.
This original exhibition offers a new perspective on how music, place, and community collide — and invites audiences to experience Hermosa’s influence on American music history like never before.
