The Last Steam Engine in Hermosa Beach

Our thanks to Len Savoleo for e-mailing this photo taken from the pages of the January 1955 issue of "Railroad News" showing the arrival of the last steam engine to come to Hermosa Beach. The caption reads, "SANTA FE STEAM, just a memory now except for occasional peak-season service in the wheat country, was born again October 9, 1954 in Southern California. In Los Angeles, 4-8-4 No. 3759 was fired up to take a special to Hermosa Beach, whose Chamber of Commerce was celebrating 1912 Days." This photo would have been taken at the intersection of Pier Avenue and Valley Drive, looking toward the north. It is my understanding that the Hermosa depot shown here was made into a model railroad kit. Any railroad buff out there with any information about that?
